Do You Need A Lift This Holiday Season?

Do You Need A Lift This Holiday Season?

Of course, you do!

After the year we’ve had, we could all use something to lighten and brighten our mood.

So, what do I recommend? The answer is simple...music!

Research shows that not only does listening to music increase the pleasure-inducing substances in our brain, but it decreases the stress-causing hormones as well. And while we can all tap into this phenomenon anytime, it seems especially appropriate and needed during the holiday season.

Whether it’s traditional holiday music that seems to be playing everywhere, that you choose to tune into, or it’s an impromptu parade with drums of pots and pans and a paper towel roll horn, the effects are often the same…fun.

In a year when celebrations are smaller and simpler, why not start a new tradition of a family sing-a-long or dance party. If you are unlike me, (who recently received a Karaoke Microphone as a birthday present and will sing anytime, anywhere), and are looking for a podcast to inspire you, I highly recommend the podcast: Noodle Loaf.

Noodle Loaf is an interactive podcast for kids 3-9 years old from a music education specialist father, Dan Saks, and his two kids. It’s ten minutes of musical fun and creativity for the whole family. Check out this play-based world of music, and, get ready to sing, dance and use your imagination.

This is a winter like no other. Many families are isolated and even facing financial hardship. Music can be one of the things that lift us up during these challenging times.

Sending you my very best wishes that your holidays are filled with good health, love, and song!
